Unity in Diversity: Mahajaya Celebrates Hari Raya in Style

Mahajaya’s corporate headquarters buzzed with festive spirit as employees gathered for a vibrant Hari Raya potluck celebration at M Cafe, featuring traditional attire and authentic cuisine.
25 April 2024 – Kuala Lumpur: Mahajaya transformed its M Cafe into a colourful celebration venue as employees from ten departments came together for a special Hari Raya potluck gathering. The lunchtime celebration saw staff members dressed in their finest traditional wear, with men in colourful baju melayu and women in elegant baju kurung.

A Feast of Flavours and Friendship

“This year’s Hari Raya celebration truly exemplifies what we stand for at Mahajaya – unity, diversity, and shared joy,” said Emelia Chan, Head of the People and Culture Department. “Seeing our colleagues from different departments contribute their specially prepared dishes while dressed in traditional attire creates exactly the kind of inclusive environment we strive to nurture.”

Each department received a dedicated budget to prepare authentic Malay dishes, resulting in an impressive spread of traditional favourites. The Admin department’s rendang and People & Culture’s ketupat and lemang set the tone for the feast. Accounting & Finance contributed homemade serunding, while Company & Secretarial delighted everyone with traditional kuih-muih.

Property Management and Project Planning collaborated on various curry dishes, while Branding & Marketing took charge of the festive decorations. The Legal department was impressed with several rendang varieties, and the Real Estate and Sales Admin rounded out the feast with traditional beverages and desserts.

A Message of Appreciation and Unity

“What makes this celebration special is how each department brought their unique touch to the table,” Emilia added. “These moments of cultural celebration are invaluable for building lasting relationships across departments. When we see our colleagues sharing their traditional dishes and stories, we’re not just celebrating Hari Raya – we’re strengthening the foundations of our corporate family.”

The potluck format encouraged interaction between departments, with employees moving from table to table, sampling dishes and exchanging Hari Raya greetings. The event successfully brought together Mahajaya’s diverse workforce in a meaningful celebration of Malaysian culture and tradition, setting a new standard for future corporate cultural events.
