Mahajaya’s Hari Raya Inter-Department Potluck Lunch: A Celebration of Togetherness
Mahajaya’s spirit of unity was truly alive as employees came together for a memorable Hari Raya Potluck Lunch, embracing tradition, camaraderie, and festive joy.
17 April 2025 – Kuala Lumpur: A lively festive buzz filled the air at Mahajaya’s headquarters, as colleagues from every department gathered for a special Hari Raya Potluck Lunch at M Café. It was a heartwarming way to celebrate the season — with delicious food, shared laughter, and a strong sense of togetherness.
Sharing Food, Laughter, and Festive Moments
Organised by the Mahajaya Sports Club (MSC) Committee, the annual Hari Raya gathering is a much-anticipated highlight on the company’s calendar. This year’s theme, “Traditional Malay,” saw employees turning up in vibrant baju Melayu, graceful baju kurung, colourful batik, and other traditional attire, adding a rich cultural touch to the occasion.
The café came alive with the mouthwatering aromas of traditional dishes, as each department contributed something special. From rich, tender rendang to fragrant lemang and an array of homemade kuih, the spread beautifully showcased Malaysia’s culinary heritage and the heartfelt efforts of everyone involved.
Adding to the festive atmosphere, a photobooth was set up, where colleagues eagerly posed for cheerful snapshots. The sound of laughter echoed through the space as teams captured memories, strengthening bonds beyond the usual workday routines.
Tokens of Appreciation
In keeping with the spirit of Hari Raya, every attending employee received duit raya as a token of appreciation — one gifted by Datuk Haji Muhamad Shapiae, Chairman of Mahajaya, and another from Ms. Phang, the Office Manager, on behalf of Mahajaya mangement. It was a thoughtful gesture that made the gathering even more meaningful.
The event also saw the presentation of the Employee Service Awards, recognising outstanding team members who had demonstrated exceptional commitment and attendance over the past year. Award recipients hailed from various departments, including Admin, Accounts, and Legal, reinforcing Mahajaya’s appreciation for dedication at all levels.
“As part of this year’s Hari Raya celebration, we wanted to do something extra by acknowledging our hardworking employees,” said Emelia Chan, Head of the People and Culture Department. “We hope this small recognition lifts their spirits and inspires them to continue giving their best.”
