Hexa Walk Welcomes McDonald’s with Grand Opening Celebration
McDonald’s has finally made its presence known in the neighbourhood at Hexa Walk, offering delectable Western and localised-style fast food options for the community of Desa Petaling.
19 April 2025 – Kuala Lumpur: Located in the bustling commercial hub of Hexa Walk of Desa Petaling, the grand opening of the new McDonald’s outlet was celebrated in full swing. The event attracted local residents, families, and business partners, all eager to witness the exciting launch of this iconic fast-food brand in their area.
Opening Ceremony Begins with Blessings and Vibrant Lion Dance
The day kicked off with a doa selamat recited by the respected imam, Ustaz Muhammad Mun’aim Bin Jaafa from Al- Khasyi’in Mosque in Desa Petaling, setting a spiritual tone for the auspicious occasion. The ceremony then continued with a ribbon-cutting moment led by key dignitaries: Mr Shadan Ismail, Operations Manager of McDonald’s Malaysia; Mr Bryan Lee, Marketing Manager of Mahajaya; Ms Shima, Restaurant General Manager of McDonald’s Malaysia; Mr Sri Saravanan, Operations Consultant of McDonald’s Malaysia; and Mdm Aryu Siti, Local Store Marketing Manager.
To elevate the festivity, a vibrant lion dance performance followed, complete with the traditional Cai Qing ritual. In a symbolic act of ushering in wealth and prosperity, the lion “plucked” auspicious items like mandarin oranges and bananas before presenting them to Mr Shadan Ismail — a gesture deeply rooted in Chinese tradition. The lions then danced their way into the restaurant, delighting both staff and guests, blessing the premises with good fortune and positive energy.
A Feast to Remember with Fun-Filled Activities
Following the ceremony, the invited VIP guests were treated to a delightful lunch spread, marking the first of many meals to be enjoyed at the new location. Outside, the atmosphere turned into a mini-carnival, with tents set up along the front of the restaurant. Families and children were seen enjoying interactive games and activities such as the “Catch The Fries” booth, sand art painting, carnival games, balloon sculptures, and a 360° photo booth experience. The beloved McDonald’s mascots, like The Hamburglar, even made an appearance, taking photos and bringing smiles all around.
With the official launch wrapped up, McDonald’s Hexa Walk is now fully open to serve the community — not just meals, but joyful memories and neighbourhood warmth. Stay tuned on the Mahajaya website and social media channels for exciting promotions and upcoming activities at Hexa Walk Desa Petaling!
