Mahajaya Rings in Chinese New Year with Vibrant Lion Dance Performance
Mahajaya welcomed the Chinese New Year with a lively lion dance performance at its Wisma Mahajaya headquarters, bringing festive cheer, prosperity blessings and a spirit of togetherness to employees across the organisation.
23 February 2026 – Kuala Lumpur: The annual first working day celebration after the Chinese New Year holiday has become a meaningful tradition for the company, symbolising prosperity, unity and a positive start to the new year.
Auspicious Start at the Lobby
The celebration began at the ground floor lobby, where two vibrant lion dance troupes performed an energetic opening act accompanied by the rhythmic beats of drums and cymbals. Employees gathered around to witness the performance as the lions danced and interacted with the crowd, symbolically ushering in good fortune for the year ahead.
Following the opening performance, the lions made their way from floor to floor, visiting various departments throughout the building. Staff members welcomed the troupe into their offices as the lions performed short blessings for each team, creating a lively and cheerful atmosphere across the workplace.
Many employees also took the opportunity to capture memorable photos with the performers, including the cheerful God of Prosperity mascot who made special appearances alongside the lions to spread festive greetings.
Firecracker Ceremony and Lou Sang Gathering
The celebration later continued at the parking bay area, where a traditional firecracker ceremony was held. The loud and vibrant bursts of firecrackers symbolised the driving away of negative energy while welcoming prosperity and good fortune for the year ahead.
The festivities concluded with a joyful lou sang session at MCafe on Level 3, where employees gathered together to toss the prosperity salad while exchanging well wishes for success, happiness and abundance.
A Conitnous Tradition
Mahajaya Managing Director, Mr Ben Tan, shared that the celebration reflects the company’s appreciation of cultural traditions and its commitment to fostering a positive workplace environment.
“Festive celebrations like this allow our employees to come together beyond their daily work, strengthening friendships and team spirit. It also reminds us to begin the year with optimism and shared prosperity,” he said.
Through celebrations such as these, Mahajaya continues to nurture a vibrant and inclusive workplace culture while strengthening the bonds among its people.
